TRIPURA

INTRODUCTION:

                                Tripura is a small, mainly agricultural state in the northeastern part of India. It is partly mountainous with several deep river valleys. The moist, mountainous areas of the state have a rich cover of evergreen forest. Agartala is the capital of the state. The main language of the state is Tripuri and the literacy rate of the state is 73.66%.


TRIPURA CUISINE:

                                   It is the type of food served in Tripura situated in northeast India. The tripuris are essentially nonvegetarians and hence the main course are mainly prepared using meat, but with the addition of vegetables. Traditional Tripuri cuisine is know as Mui Borok. Tripuri food has a key ingredient called Berma, which is a small, oil pasted and dry fermented fish. The foods are sometimes considered to be healthy as they are usually prepared without oil. The major food items among Tripuris are:
  •      Chakhwi
  •     Mwkhwi
  •     Muitru

TRIPURA MUSIC:

                                 Tripuris use musical instruments like the Kham made of wood and animal skin, the Sumui made of bamboo, Sarinda, Chongpreng, Dangdu and Cymbals are very famous and popular among indigenous Tripuri people.

TRIPURA DANCE:
                                  The important dances of the Tripuris are:

Goria dance: 

                    The life and culture of Tripuris revolve around Jhum cultivation. When the sowing seeds at a plot of land selected for Jhum is over by middle of April, they pray to the God 'Goria' for a happy harvest. The celebrations attached to the Goria Puja continue for seven days when they seek to entertain their beloved deity with song and dance.
                        Other important dances are, Huk kaimani Dance, Lebang bymani Dance, Hojagiri dance, Ua bamboo dance.

TRIPURA FESTIVALS:
                           Ashokashtami Festival is held in Tripura with pomp and glory; It is a very popular festival in the state.  Since the main population of tripura is Hinduism, the deities and pattern of worship is also very much akin to the Hindu style. Ashokastami Festival is mainly associated with the sacred dip in the holy river. In the consecrated river of the Astami Kunda the devotees take a bath and this is considered to bring blessings of the God. This is usually celebrated on March and April according to the movement of moon, which is know as Tithi. 






TRIPURA DRESS:
                     Tripuris have their own traditional dresses. This type of dress is similar to that of the rest of the North-East Indian people, but the pattern and design is totally different.
                     The dress for women for the lower half of the body is called Rigwnai in Tripuri and for the upper half of the body cloth has two parts Risa and Rikutu. Risa covers the chest part and the rikutu covers whole of upper half of the body.


TRIPURA WEDDING:
                       The marriages which take place in this state solely follow the system of Hamjwk Tubui Kaimani, wherein the bride and groom have no say or decision in finalizing their weddings. The elder members of the family take over the deciding responsibility and follow the rites and rituals of the marriage ceremonies which is a mandate for the state residents.

CONCLUSION:
                             Culture has great importance. Culture is the identity of the nation, without culture the society is impossible.Culture is the basic root of any community which gives them the way of life. The culture provides solution to the critical problems that is faced to community. Culture teach us to think for the whole nation not individually, it provide the concept of family, nation, etc.
