INDIAN CULTURE

The culture of India refers to the unique cultures of all the communities present in India. It refers to each and every state of India and Indian culture speaks about different states and their cultures,their ethnicity,their traditions,their customs, their costume,their cuisine,their occupation etc.  I would like to speak about the state Karnataka. This article gives you the whole information about Karnataka and its culture and traditions.

CULTURE IS THE ART OF LIVING


The people of Karnataka are the Kannada speaking people and they are referred as Kannadiga. Karnataka is a state in the south western region of India. The history of Karnataka and Kannadigas dates back to nearly two millennia. The history,culture and the development of Karnataka have been contributed by major empires and dynasties.

ETHNICITY

The kannadigas contribute at least 70% of the total population of the state and kannadigas are the original speakers of the language Kannada. The people of the state feel proud about their rich heritage. There are many languages in addition to Kannada and some of them are Urdu, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Hindi, Tulu, Konkani, Malayalam, Kodava etc.

CULTURE AND TRADITIONS

Karnataka is noted for different religious traditions.though kannadigas have Karnataka as their home town, the state is also a place for Tuluvas, Kodavas and konkanis. Nataka is also a common tradition among the people in Karnataka.. Another common tradition among them is visiting temples on special occasions such as festivals. Harikathe also becomes a part of the tradition of Karnataka. The kannadiga weddings are more like traditional Hindu weddings.

CUSTOMS IN KANNADIGA WEDDINGS

The Kannada marriages mostly follow the customs as same as the Hindu weddings but it may differ with areas. They also perform nandhi pooja so that the wedding takes place without any disturbance.

CUISINE

Bise bele bath is quite famous among their culture. Rice and Ragi form the staple food and other famous food items are Jolada, sorghum, ragi mudde, uppitu, benne dosa, masala dosa, meddu vade.

OCCUPATION



Farming and cattle rearing are one of the important occupations in the rural part of Karnataka. In coastal Karnataka the people concentrate more on fishing. In the south Karnataka people work in mines and industries.The Urban Karnataka people work in industry and software fields.

FESTIVALS


The most famous festivals of Karnataka are Ganesha chaturthi , Hampi festival, Gowri festival, Karga,  pattadakal dance festival, Mahastakabhisheka, Kampala festival.


COSTUMES

costumes  vary from place to place. Most of the men from rural Karnataka wear panche or lungi and female from rural Karnataka wear saree and people from urban Karnataka wear western clothes like jeans, chudidhar, shirt, trousers, shalwar etc.


Karnataka is one of the beautiful state in India and it is very rich in traditions and heritage and Karnataka's cultures and traditions are also one of the important topic in account of Indian culture.
